16 Y-o Jamerican Inspires a Generation

Sixteen-year-old Valeska Brown is quickly becoming a household name among gospel radio listeners. Born in Miami to Jamaican parents, the dynamic teen has taken Prayer and Praise Radio Jamaica—a Florida-based gospel radio station—by storm with her vibrant and soul-stirring programme, The Youth Vibes Show. According to station statistics, her show currently boasts the largest audience on the platform.

Despite her age, Valeska wears many hats with grace and purpose. She is a full-time student, an entrepreneur, and a rising radio personality. Through her show, she offers far more than entertainment—she provides encouragement, spiritual insight, and a sense of belonging to youth and young adults who may feel overlooked or disconnected.

“When I was 11 years old, I felt a strong calling to go into radio broadcasting,” Valeska shared. “I didn’t want to be on the air just to talk. I wanted to create a space where young people could feel safe, understood, and encouraged. My dream has always been to reach souls for God’s Kingdom and help others experience the love and freedom I found in Christ.”

That passion now fuels not just her voice behind the mic but also her entrepreneurial efforts. Valeska is the founder and owner of Lala’s Fashion Boutique LLC, where she designs and sells fashion, beauty, and custom gift items. “Being both a student and a business owner has taught me a lot about balance, discipline, and walking by faith,” she said.

Her journey of faith began during a time of personal and family crisis. At the age of 11, during a season marked by serious health challenges, Valeska surrendered her life to Christ. “I began praying like never before, and God showed Himself faithful,” she recalled. “He restored my health and brought healing to my family. That’s when I truly began to understand the power of prayer and the peace that comes from trusting God.”

Valeska is also open about the emotional struggles she has faced. As a child and early teen, she battled anxiety and depression—feelings she admits she didn’t always know how to process. But her relationship with God helped her find a path to peace.

“I realised that God didn’t call me to carry my burdens alone. When I started surrendering my worries to Him, He gave me peace and strength I couldn’t find anywhere else.”

Now, her life’s mission is to minister to others, especially youth, who may be going through similar battles. “I’m passionate about helping others, especially young people, discover who they are in Christ,” she said. “I want to be a voice of hope to those struggling with the same things I once did and show them that healing, purpose, and joy are possible through Jesus.”

Valeska’s vision extends beyond the microphone and her boutique. She has a strong desire to help bridge the gap between generations within the Christian community. “My ultimate goal is to make a meaningful impact by encouraging unity, growth, and faith,” she said. “We all have something to offer – if we come together, we can reflect Christ more powerfully.”

With a heart on fire for God and a voice that’s capturing the attention of a new generation, Valeska Brown is not only rising – she’s leading.
