Arising from a meeting with Apostle Jeffrey Shuttleworth in April 2020, where he shared his vision about reaching children and inspiring them further in the things of God in Christ, Kingdom Boys and Girls with Peta Gay Rowe (formerly Kingdom Kids) was birthed.
After the meeting ended, Rowe kept wondering just how that could be done and, if it could, how she would prepare to carry it out. Although her academic training and professional experience had been in media for about 12 years at the time, she never entertained the thought of hosting a programme.
She went on a prayer vigil, and it was then that the Holy Spirit started to minister to her, giving her objectives and vision.
“The vision, He revealed, was to teach the children about Christ, teaching them to reflect His image, His spirit, and His love. The objective stemmed from daily interaction and giving practical activities to reinforce the children’s understanding of Christ as well as their ability to articulate what they know about Him and His Word,” she shared.
She also included, as an objective, the teaching of life skills and personal development to the children.
Soon after, there were many divinely inspired ideas given, as she would awake at night with ideas and messages to share.
“This included topics, scriptures, and songs and how to present them all in the best possible way to inspire, educate, and uplift both children and adults and His name,” she reminisced.
With the mandate set, it was time to prepare for the first airing of the programme. Reflecting on it, she said it was made light thanks to the radio team who aided with the auditioning of getting children who would serve as co-hosts: Jaida Graham, Nazari Davis, and Keira Copeland were the picks.
The theme song was written, composed, and recorded by Lori Burnett and was ‘awe-inspiring,’ in Rowe’s own words. It took about two weeks for everything to come together.
On May 5, 2020, at 3 p.m., the programme became a reality under the influence of the Holy Spirit, who gave Rowe a clear vision of the name, themes, and focus of the programme and the inspiration, which caused it to resonate with children and adults.
As the station celebrates another milestone, Rowe shared that it is humbling how the Holy Spirit has given her the grace to communicate with the children, teaching her to speak with them and not to them.
“Much like our relationship with the Lord, where we are all children, this is one of the most profound revelations from the Lord,” she revealed.
That revelation aided the children in opening up and sharing with confidence, respect, and understanding. It also allowed her to create a programme that spoke to them in a way that resonated with them and helped them connect with their faith in Christ.
Sharing on the programme and the impact it has been having in the lives of the little ones, Rowe said she continues to bless the Lord for using her to facilitate this programme.
“His leadership is what has inspired children to connect with their faith in Christ in a meaningful and joyful way. Some of the most refreshing and encouraging moments for me over the last four years have been in how the children share. Their testimonies, their unusual yet challenging questions, and the Holy Spirit rescuing me with the answer,” she highlighted.
Peta Gay sees the programme as one way of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and the message of salvation. More of this is needed, and further support would be welcomed, but Rowe remains grateful for what God is doing through the children’s ministry.
“They make me laugh, and laugh hard. They make me cry and bawl too; they give me hope and remind me that God listens and He is always there with the answers,” she shared.
