Thousands of Christians are expected to gather at the Spanish Town Prison Oval on March 9 as the church steps up intercession for Jamaica as the country continues to grapple with blood shed and spiritual wickedness in high places.
Several church bodies in Kingston and St Catherine are leading the charge in the historic capital, which, prophetically, is seen as the womb of the nation.
“Once Spanish Town is delivered, it will be deliverance for the nation. This is not just church. All born-again believers should participate in such a spiritual exercise, a spiritual move to see deliverance across this country. As it is now, we are in the cross hairs of danger and while others sleep, there is too much evidence to suggest that if Jamaica doesn’t change now, we are up for big trouble moving forward,” said Bishop Omar Ricketts who pastors the Harmony Gospel Chapel located on the outskirts of the Old Capital.

Bishop Johnathan Hayden, who, along with his team has been praying for Spanish Town for decades, said it is important for citizens to gather for this prayer move to battle spiritual wickedness in high places.
“There is a lot of witchcraft, so the thing is, we must get on top of those things, or else the whole town will become a mess and we cannot afford that at this time,” said the senior pastor.
Both pastors said that they are aware that several rituals have been practised for some time and these have resulted in bloodshed in the country’s first city. This includes the throwing of grave dirt on roadways to cause accidents.
“These rituals affect you, they affect lives, they affect schools and say for example, when we walk the Spanish Town bypass, within that vicinity, we would have learnt that a lot of these developments are on ancient cemeteries where blood was shed,” noted Bishop Ricketts. He explained that the church needs to get out of the four walls, and become a voice that strongly resists these Satanic rituals. He said that instead of being afraid, citizens should partner with the church to pray for the gunmen who are being held captive by demonic forces and need to be set free.
There have been several flare-ups of violence in Spanish Town over the years, but some of the most recent ones have been particularly troubling and have resulted in the shuttering of schools and businesses. The killing of reputed One Order gang leader Othniel Lobban in January by the police, increased tension and resulted in one major business place being incinerated. The business community lamented that billions were lost as citizens feared going out to engage in any form of commerce. The flare-up was reported by several international media and even after that major shut down, there have been reports of killings on a weekly basis in the city.

The mass gathering at the Prison Oval will begin at 5 pm in the evening. Five hundred persons are being encouraged to invite 40 others with them to the venue. It has been prophesied that God will be moving in ways that have never been seen before, and He will be shifting things in Spanish Town to the extent that the entire country will benefit.
“The nation that will turn to God will be a nation that will be delivered by God,” said Bishop Ricketts who urged Jamaica to repent and seek God.
He said the decadence that is happening in the nation affects many sectors, including tourism, the economy, and national security. He noted that everything is interconnected and God is waiting on the nation to call upon Him. Repentance, restitution, and confession will also be important in order to witness full restoration.
