Brotha George is all about ministry in songs.

After a career as a secular artiste, George Wright, aka Brotha George, was invited to sing at a friend’s wedding, and as he crooned the words of a gospel song singing about a journey with the Lord, he said the pastor was so impressed he invited him to church the next day.

He said the love and support he got at the church felt so much like a family setting t

“You know I have a calling on my life from scratch, you know, because my mum was a very humble woman who always made sure to include us in living for God in the right way; she served God and walked in His footsteps, and I thank God for her,” he said of his late mother.

Brotha George, who was lured into music by his brother – a member of the Meditation group known for their hit song ‘Woman Is Like a Shadow’ – did background vocals for Jimmy Cliff and performed alongside Barrington Levy on Metro Media and other sound systems.

Since embracing Christ as his Saviour, Brotha George migrated to the United States over 25 years ago, becoming a member of an Apostolic Church in Connecticut, where he resides.

Filled with a passion to bring the gospel through musical messages, he has recorded songs such as God Alone, God Is My Keeper, Cast The First Stone, Heaven Bound, Blood Stained Banner and You Will Rise.

Brotha George, in an interview with Freedom Come Rain, said he is never short on inspiration, as it is all around him in terms of  “What people are going through in this world today.” He sees himself as a messenger and always tries to point listeners to the Almighty, showing them who the Creator is.

“Those are the two keys. When we have faith and persevere in everything that we do, as long as God is in it, we will come through because God keeps you grounded.”

His latest album, Mindset, was considered for the Grammy this year, following up on Unstoppable last year which was also considered before the final list of nominees.
