Judith Collins: Standing in the Gap Through Prayer

Judith Collins has been engaged in prayerful intercession with the Freedom Come Ministries International (FCMI) since 2023 and is currently a part of the peaceful, prayerful, and persistent protest at Emancipation Park in Kingston.

Collins is just as deeply involved in intercession today as when she began — leading covenant prayers across Jamaica and even including them in marriages, homes, and communities. Her prayer focus has taken on a new direction under a mandate given to Apostle Jeffrey Shuttleworth by the Holy Spirit. This directive has led to the current format of the FCMI Peaceful Prayer Protest, which began on Labour Day, May 23.

This non-denominational peaceful prayer gathering is now active in over 80 locations islandwide. It is centred on advocating for spiritual and societal change through prayer, scripture readings, and non-violent protest. The ultimate goal: to encourage righteousness and national transformation through faith.

Commenting on her involvement, Collins said that when the Shepherd calls, she must obey. Although she has taken part in varying prayer missions or initiatives organised by the FCMI over the years, this has been the longest assignment so far.

“The Word of God says, ‘Who will go for me? And who will stand up against the workers of iniquity?’ There are so many things happening in Jamaica — so many things in the land. This peaceful, prayerful, persistent protest was birthed out of prayer. The one that went on for 153 days—and this new one, in this season—was birthed out of that same spirit of prayer,” she shared.

According to Collins, many Jamaicans are unaware of the spiritual realities affecting the nation. The peaceful, prayerful, purposeful gatherings serve to sensitise the people to what the Lord is saying and doing in this season.

From Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 12 noon, she and her team minister and intercede, impacting lives through prayer. Their persistence, however, has not come without resistance. Collins shared that they face spiritual opposition from the forces of darkness operating in the nation.

“We continue to shut down and destroy the evil altars and things that come up against us, the children of God. We break and destroy all the spells and charms that have been released over this nation. And as we continue to stand, persons are listening — because of our stewardship and consistency,” she highlighted.

Despite their devotion, they often encounter naysayers and hostility. Some mock them, saying they have nothing better to do. Others curse them out, and at times, even aggressive individuals approach them.

“Mad persons would come and try to hit us or confront us. But we continue to stand. One day, a man came just scoping out the place, looking around as if he wanted to know who was leading,” she recalled.

Still, the opposition pales in comparison to the moments of reward—such as when people passing by stop to listen, are moved by the message, and ultimately give their hearts to the Lord. Others approach for prayer concerning personal struggles or family situations.

Collins makes no secret of where her strength and determination come from. She said,

“God strengthens me and gives me the courage to go out and stand.”

To those who feel a call to serve, she urges obedience to the voice of the Holy Spirit and to follow the leading of Jesus, the Shepherd.

“He’s the one bidding you to go to the street corners, into your communities, across the different parishes, schools, and places where the Lord has been calling you. Do not be shy,” she encouraged.

In closing, Collins reminded that there is much happening across Jamaica — people living in darkness and fear — and it is the faithful prayers of God’s remnants that make a difference.

“There are so many things happening. And it’s because of the children of God — the remnants, the residue — who are praying,” she affirmed.
