Prayer (01/08/26)

Let us pray.

Almighty God, in the name of Jesus the Christ, the Son of the Living God, we come before you as your children. We bow before you in thanksgiving and praise. We acknowledge you as the God of all gods, King of all kings, Lord of all lords.

Truly, there is none like unto you. We acknowledge and confess you, Almighty God, as Jehovah El-Shaddai, Jehovah El-Sabot, Jehovah El-Roi. We acknowledge and confess you as Jehovah-Jireh, the one who sees to it that all our needs are supplied. We acknowledge and confess you as Jehovah El-Gibhor.

We acknowledge and confess you as Jehovah El-Nissi, the one whose banners over us is love. How can we say thanks to you for the extraordinary, indescribable things you have done through the ages? Since time immemorial, Lord God, we bow before you with thanksgiving.

Lord God, we thank you that the prayer levels across this island of Jamaica continue to rise. We thank you for the faithfulness of your people, those who, without fail, continue to follow your bidding. Father God, we confess and admit that we have been wretched and undone. We confess and admit that we have taken you for granted. We confess and admit that we have been adulterous. We have been idolatrous. We have been pernicious in our ways. We have been indolent and impudent.

Father, in your mercy and love, we ask for your cleansing, your forgiveness. In Jesus’ name, we repent. Even as we confess, we repent.

We repent that we have taken you for granted. We have been unfaithful, inconsistent, that the things that we should do, that we know we ought to do, we do not do, and the things that we know we should not do, those are the things we have found ourselves doing. Oh, what wretched persons we are and have been.

And so, Almighty God, we throw ourselves face down before you as we prostrate at your feet and ask for your forgiveness and your cleansing. In Jesus’ name, we lift up the household of faith across this nation even now. It has been arduous, it has been difficult, it has been tumultuous.

There have been so many arrows, so many types of turbulence, trials, troubles, tumult, which have confronted us and continue to confront us on a daily basis. We recognize increasingly that the nation of Jamaica is drifting further and further away from you. We recognize, oh God, that more and more of our leaders, sadly including those in the church, are moving further and further away from righteousness, and are supporting unrighteousness.

Instead of supporting the divine agenda of God, they are supporting the beast agenda. And this has caused confusion in the minds of so many.

Many have lost faith in the God of the church, primarily because they have lost faith in the church itself.  Many unsaved persons are looking on and have concluded that they are living a better life than those of us who claim to be born again believers in Christ.

And so Lord, we pray that the nation will be called to three consecutive days of fasting , prayer and repentance.  We pray that the people of Jamaica will recognise the error of their ways, humble themselves repent, pray and seek God’s face in this season.
We pray that our people will choose to serve Christ, the Son of the Living God, in whose Name we pray.

Amen
