Let us pray
Almighty God. Father, we thank you for your goodness and for your grace.
Thank you for being our hiding place. Through your coming, we have life and we have life more abundantly.
Thank you, Lord God, for the awesome work that you have done to redeem man. Mighty and awesome God, thank you for this nation of Jamaica. Thank you for a people that you have called your own. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for all that you have given us in this nation – the food, the water, the mountains.
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for all the amenities that you have provided for us in this land called Jamaica.
Mighty God, wash us as a family in your blood. This nation has fallen, and so we repent.
We repent for the crime, for the violence. We repent for how we have taken you for granted. We repent for the spirit of idolatry that we have embraced as a nation.
We repent for how our government has been treating with the task to lead and to serve this nation. Lord, we repent of the abduction and the killing of our children. Some we have found, some we have not found, Lord God, but you know where each and every one of them is located.
Lord God, we repent for how we have been treating the young men. Lord God, we have not set up our family structure in the way you have ordained the family to be, so the family is fragmented. This has caused our children to be confused about family. Mighty God, precious Saviour, we repent before you, Lord God, for how our young men, are being killed in the streets, Lord God.
We repent, Lord God, for how so many of our young men have been driven into gangs because the father figure that should be over them, nurturing them, loving them, leading them, teaching them the things of God, have been removed.
Father God, we repent for how our young girls have been treated as sex symbols, without worth, without love, without validation. Lord God, many have been preyed upon at a tender age, Lord God.
Father, we repent, also for allowing our young boys to be sexually molested by family, even by loved ones and neighbours who they trusted.
Mighty God, even those who have been placed in their care while their parents are not around have been compromised. God, we repent for the things that we have embraced as a nation, oh, we have gone a-whoring after new age. We have gone a-whoring after Buddhism, we have gone a-whoring, mighty God, after Hinduism, we have gone a-whoring after evil cultures and ancestral spirits. We have gone a-whoring, mighty God, after power and witchcraft. We have gone a-whoring, Lord Jesus, going after homosexuality, Lord God, we have been embracing the LGBTQI agenda, we have gone a-whoring as a nation, running after the United Nations and European Union policies. Lord God, we have gone a-whoring, running after filthy lucre, and not seeing the price and the consequences of accepting these grants and monies.
Lord God, even cultures that were never ours, we are now pursuing. Lord God, carnival was never entrenched in us. Lord God, how we have forsaken our first love, forsaken our creator, our Lord, our maker, mighty God, we repent.
Lord Jesus we pray for restoration of the families. We pray for our fathers, that they will take up their rightful places in this nation and that the fear of God will return to the hearts of our people, in Jesus’ Mighty Name.
