Israel is sometimes referenced in discussions about the end times, but president of the Jamaica House of Prayer (JaHOP), Harry Walcott, feels that these discussions are not happening frequently enough.
The pastor is of the view that many Christians are not aware of the vital relationship between the church and Israel, although this country is of great significance to Jesus.
“As people of God living in the end times and advancing towards the coming of our Lord, we need to discuss this openly and gain understanding according to God’s heart, because Israel is featured big in the end times and the church needs to know how to position itself towards Israel,” he said.
In an effort to increase awareness, JaHOP will be hosting an “Israel and the Church” virtual conference between Thursday, October 20 and Sunday, October 23 for pastors, ministry leaders, and members of the general public.
Walcott said Israel symbolizes to the world that God’s promises are true. He noted that there are several prophecies regarding Israel and some have started coming to pass.
“One of the main prophetic things we want to highlight is that He was going to scatter them throughout the nation because of their disobedience and their rebellion against God, but that day would come when He would gather them again and make them a nation,” he explained.
Walcott said that while we do not know when Jesus will return, there are signs that we should look out for that would signal that we are in the end times. We will hear of wars, rumours of wars, earthquakes in diverse places, social upheavals, and the emergence of false prophets.
“When we see these things increasing, they refer to them as ‘birth pangs’ where, like a woman who is giving birth, you start to see the contractions get more intense and the time between them get shorter. I believe that that is what is happening in the world right now: we are feeling the contractions and these crises that we have been facing, including, I believe, the COVID-19 pandemic; are contractions that we need to take note of and we need to be prepared,” he said.
The persecution of Christians will be a key feature of the end times, and Walcott believes this is increasing worldwide. The Jewish nation will also have to recognize Jesus as “The Blessed One” and their Saviour”.
Christians are admonished to watch and pray. The aim of the conference is to teach people what they should be watching for, empowering them with the tools necessary to be outfitted for the impending battle against Israel and the intensifying battle against the Church. The full conference costs $3000 or persons can pay $1500 per session. Pastors can attend for free, but they would need to contact JaHOP via whatsapp at (876) 843-8861.
