And so, Father, as we come to You in this hallowed hour, we repent of all our sins. We confess and admit that we have sinned against You in thought, in word, and in deed, and even as Your people listen across this nation and the nations, we quiet our hearts recognizing that we have been undone; recognizing that our very best efforts have fallen woefully short of Your righteous expectations. And so, in Your love and mercy, we ask of You, O God, that You will hear our cries, our faintest cries. You will forgive us of our sins as we repent.
WE REPENT
We repent, O God, of all we have said and done that have contravened Your precepts and statutes, that have transgressed Your righteous laws, that have transgressed Your Word. We pray, O God, that You will forgive us and hear our prayers for we can’t survive without Your forgiveness.
Yes, LORD. We pray for everyone who is listening, even right now, those who are praying. We lift up all intercessors before You as we embark on yet another season of prayer. Wherever intercessors are, wherever born-again Believers are in their motor vehicles, we lift them up before You as they establish altars of prayer. Those who are in traffic, those who are at home kneeling at the bedside, those who have stopped what they are doing and have adopted that posture of prayer—LORD, we present them to You. We present persons to You who are at work, and even now they are aligning themselves with this time of prayer.
We thank You for those who are in the hospital, who are aligning themselves with this season of prayer; those who are in prison, literally, and are aligning themselves to prayer. We thank You for those who are abroad and even now they are aligning themselves with this season of prayer.
CONSECRATE US NOW
Consecrate us, now, to thy service LORD by thy power of grace divine. Let our soul look up with a steadfast hope and our wills be lost in thine. Draw us near, nearer, nearer blessed LORD to the cross where thou hast died. Draw us nearer, nearer, nearer blessed LORD to thy precious bleeding side. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour that before thy throne I spend. When I kneel in prayer and with thee my God, I commune as friend with friend. Draw us nearer, nearer, nearer blessed LORD to the cross where thou hast died. Draw us nearer, nearer, nearer blessed LORD to thy precious bleeding side.
There are depths of love that we may not know till we cross the narrow sea. There are heights of joy that we may not reach till we rest in peace with thee.
And so, Father, we take full responsibility of all our sins that have been committed as a people and nation, and we prostrate ourselves to You and before You in this season of prayer.
Grant us grace to obey You; to respond, O God to Your promptings. Yes LORD, grant us grace, grant us wisdom for the facing of this hour. Father, we worship You. We lift You up. We magnify Your name. “Lo, the hosts of evil round us. Scorn thy Christ, assail His ways. From the fears that long have bound us, free our hearts to faith and praise…Cure thy children’s warring madness, Bend our pride to thy control. Shame our wanton selfish gladness, rich in things and poor in soul…Set our feet on lofty places, Gird our lives that they may be, armoured with all Christlike graces. In the fight to set men free…Save us from weak resignation, To the evils we deplore. Let the search for thy salvation, Be our glory evermore. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, For the facing of this hour. For the living of these days. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage. Lest we miss Thy kingdom’s goal. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, Serving thee whom we adore.”
WE HAVE DONE EVIL IN YOUR SIGHT
Father God, we repent of the sins of drunkenness. We repent of the sins of the families including abortion, incest, carnal abuse, domestic violence, domestic abuse, paedophilia. We repent of the sins of adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, transgenderism, and all other acts of perversion including bestiality. Yes, LORD, we repent of the sins against our children: the sins of murder, violence, the cry of innocent blood all across this nation of Jamaica.
We repent of the sins of prostitution, gambling, human trafficking, pornography.
We repent of the sins: the political sins, the political murders, corruption, nepotism, political one-upmanship, pork barrel politics, political cronyism, garrison politics. We repent.
We repent of the sins and negative legacies of slavery. Yes, LORD, we repent.
We repent of the sins committed by employers and employees. We repent of the sins of the judiciary, the executive, the legislature.
We repent, O God of the sins of the priesthood, the sins of idolatry, and cultism.
Almighty God we also confess and admit that we have sinned against You and done evil in Your sight. We have disobeyed Your Word individually and collectively. We have not loved our neighbour as ourselves.
FORGIVE US, O GOD
Forgive us, O God. Forgive us of the ways in which we have sinned in our families as husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, elders, young people, relatives, grandparents, as children. We have sinned at the local government levels: as mayors, parish counsellors. We have sinned against You as workers in parliament and in the government sector. We have sinned against You, even against our fellow man. Father, we repent. We repent, O God, as we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing from all unrighteousness. Oh yes, LORD.
Heavenly Father, it is our desire for our nation of Jamaica to be released from the burden of sins, sins of our past and to be reconciled to You, O God. Have mercy and grant us these requests. Grant us national healing and restoration, national reformation, for only You can do same.
Keep us free from evil powers, O God. Be our light through countless hours. We decree and declare that Jamaica, under God, shall become the righteous place for righteous choices, to lead righteous lives, to raise righteous families, and to do righteous business.
