Children making their voices heard on Kingdom Boys and Girls

Ifeoluwa Alonge quickly dismissed the popular adage that “children should be seen and not heard” during his address at Tarrant Baptist Church’s anniversary church service held recently.

Fourteen-year-old Alonge is a staple on the weekday programme, Kingdom Boys and Girls, with host Peta Gay Rowe, whom he affectionately calls ‘Aunty Peta.’ He said the programme has given a voice to not only him, but also his fellow contributors, Jaida Graham, Nazari Davis, and Keira Copeland, as well as those who call in and visit the studio.

Describing it as “quite a journey,” Alonge revealed that his energetic ‘aunty’ has been there to guide their growth, as well as paint a picture in the minds of her young followers who have never met her in person.

“Quite a few listeners who have never seen Aunty Peta have asked me how she looks. They all say that she sounds like she would be a very kind and lovely person. Her personality is conveyed through the programme,” he shared with confidence as he stood at the podium at the Tarrant Baptist Church.

Praising the programme, Alonge said it has provided a forum for hundreds of children to be on the radio, and for them, it is more significant than even adults themselves might realise.

In his closing remarks, Alonge appropriately quoted Isaiah 11:6: “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.”
