American World Champion Noah Lyles, who, last year, shared the spotlight with South African Wayde Van Niekerk and Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson, is one of numerous athletes expected to compete in this year’s staging of The Racers Grand Prix.
This time, Lyles will compete in the men’s 100 metres alongside rising Jamaican star Oblique Seville, World University champion Kadrian Goldson, bronze medalist Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain, Canadian Aaron Brown, American Kendal Williams, and two more athletes who are still to be confirmed.
Many athletes from all around the world are starting their seasons and competing in different meets around the globe as the Olympic Games get near. Because it annually features the best of Racers Track and Field Club, Jamaica, and the world, this Grand Prix meet has an exceptional reputation. The sixth staging of the meet is scheduled for June 1 at the National Stadium this year. The news was shared on Tuesday, April 16 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel during the event’s premiere.
Jamaicans are fortunate to have witnessed numerous track and field victories throughout the years, and as we anticipate this summer in Paris, this event will showcase a multitude of domestic and foreign talents.
Thirteen events are scheduled, including the men’s 100-metre race. Ashanti Moore, Alana Reid, and recently crowned global indoor champion Julien Alfred will compete in the women’s division. Ackera Nugent and Megan Tapper, the reigning bronze medalists at the Olympics, will compete in the women’s sprint hurdles. Hansle Parchment, the Olympic winner in sprint hurdles for men, will also compete.
Meanwhile, in the men’s triple jump, National Triple Jump Champion Jaydon Hibbert will go up against American Will Claye. The 400 metres, 400-metre hurdles, men’s long and triple jumps, and the discus men are among the other events on the schedule.
Tickets for the event will go on sale online on May 1, with the grandstand finish line valued at $5,000, the regular grandstand at $3,000, and the bleachers tickets dropped to $500.
