‘I would rather suffer with God than man’ – Journey With Janice

No matter your situation, you should always be careful not to grasp at the first opportunity that seems like an answer to prayer. This was made clear in a testimony on the Journey With Janice YouTube channel.

Sharing her days of living in Jamaica, going through sufferation, and not being able to afford a proper meal for her and her children, she said a man informed her that God had chosen him to be her husband.

After seeing her situation, he had previously given her a bundle of the callaloo he was selling. The following day, he gave her some money so she could cook a meal for herself, her children, and himself.

“The next time he came back again, he said to me that he wanted to talk to me. And you know, sitting down there talking, he said God said to tell me that he is my husband. I said to him really, I’d rather to suffer with God than to suffer with man, and if you are the person that God sent to be my husband, God wicked to me,” she highlighted on the programme as she shared that she had made a special request to the Lord that she wanted a man who had a heart to serve Him and would be good to her.

She could see that he wasn’t the one for her, as she hastily shared that nothing was wrong with him, but he just wasn’t the one.

Prior to that encounter, Janice recounted her struggles and how God kept her and her children, ensuring that they never went to bed hungry.

The key thing she observed is that no matter the situation, children of God should remain humble and content.

“I’ve been there; I’ve been through so many different challenges and obstacles. It’s hard sometimes; it’s really hard. Back when I was in Jamaica, I was going through so much stress and depression,” she recalled.

Unemployed, Janice said she was living close to her family members, but the negative encounters were ‘draining” her. She made the decision to move, and, with the aid of her brother, she was able to come up with the deposit for the rent and to pay for the vehicle to move her things.

The house she rented had the backyard planted with pumpkins, cho cho, and bananas. It was an incentive for her to ensure that each month, whatever money she got, the rent was secured.

“I would cut the pumpkin, cook it, and eat it with salt because I couldn’t buy meat at that time. Once in a while, I could buy a piece of chicken, or once in a while, I could buy a tin mackerel, and I would cook the pumpkin with salt. I would also cook the banana the same way, and I would bless it and give God thanks for it,” she reminisced.

Janice shared that she and her children would enjoy the food without any meat and would be comfortable and content, giving God thanks as if they were eating a feast for a king.

For six months, they endured that kind of hardship, but looking back, she is now rejoicing at God’s faithfulness and that she never compromised by seeking a husband when the chance presented itself to ease her burden.

She has now found the man of her dreams, and that story, she said, will be shared in another testimony!
