Love conquers all!

Junelle Bromfield and Olympic Champion Noah Lyles engaged

In a heartwarming gesture of love and dedication, Olympic 100-metre winner Noah Lyles proposed to his Jamaican girlfriend, quarter-miler Junelle Bromfield. And she said, ‘Yes!’

The romantic proposal occurred on October 12, 2024, and was a significant step toward the couple’s relationship status being permanent. Lyles shared the lovely moment on Instagram on Sunday, capturing the essence of their special bond and captioning it, “To my future wife, I will love you forever.”

The lovely video, which captured their unwavering connection, begins with a warm candlelight glow, surrounded by flowers and fond recollections of their time together as a couple. The 26-year-old Jamaican sprinter wore a breathtaking silver gown as she walked hand in hand with Noah down a petal-lined path, setting the stage for the ideal proposal. Noah kneels down, face full of enthusiasm and a broad smile, and asks Junelle to marry him. Time stopped when she said, ‘Yes,’ and they shared a heartfelt kiss to commemorate their momentous day.

Following their engagement post, social media expressed love for the couple amidst recent harassment against Junelle, which originated from Noah’s casual admission that he had been receiving ‘drama’ details about Jamaican camps for years now. This outraged the Jamaican fan base, with many slandering and criticising her; nonetheless, the couple’s bond appears to have grown stronger in light of recent events, and Noah’s resolve to stand by Junelle’s side has resulted in a beautiful display of love.

The post has since generated over 3,000 comments, many of which include congratulations from global track and field stars, such as Dina Asher-Smith, Charokee Young, Cyrena Samba-Mayela, Britton Wilson, Jelani Walker, and Talitha Diggs.

Notably, both Noah and Junelle have competed in the last two Olympics. Noah won bronze medals in the 200 metres at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics, and he became the first American man to win the 100 meters since 2004. Junelle, on the other hand, was a member of Jamaica’s women’s 4×400-metre team that won bronze in Tokyo, as well as the mixed 4×400-metre team, which finished seventh in Paris. She advanced to the individual 400-metre semi finals and was a member of Jamaica’s mixed 4×400-metre team that finished fifth.

The pair have known each other for at least eight years and have been in a relationship since the summer of 2022.
