Gospel artiste, disc jock D Roy Bramwell, to be honoured in Antigua

Gospel artiste and disc jock D Roy Bramwell will be recognised for his body of work in the gospel arena at the 10th staging of the Antigua Barbuda Global Music & Media Awards (ABGMA) Festival, which will take place from November 28 to December 1.

The festival will be celebrating the achievements of outstanding individuals during the Legacy Ball & Media Awards on Saturday, November 30. The honourees, according to a press release from the organisation, represent excellence in media, music, and humanitarian work, reflecting the values of leadership, impact, and global outreach that the ABGMA stands for.

This year’s honourees include a diverse group of individuals from the fields of radio, television, music, fashion, and humanitarian advocacy; recognising their significant contributions on both a national and international scale.

Bramwell, who will be awarded in the “Impact” category, joins fellow Jamaican awardee Kevin Heath. Among the other awardees in the category are Daniel “Goldmann” Agyin (Ghana), a multi-award-winning gospel recording artiste, humanitarian, and songwriter, celebrated for his musical influence and humanitarian efforts across Africa; and Alyssa Joseph (Trinidad), an award-winning gospel recording artiste, dancer, choreographer, and radio host, known for her dynamic performances and social influence in the gospel music scene.

Known for his simple melodies and moving lyrics, Douglas Bramwell, aka D Roy, made his mark in the gospel music world as a psalmist, praise and worship leader, and songwriter. His debut album Douglas R. Bramwell… In Endless Praise earned him a nomination for the 2009 Caribbean Gospel Best New Male Artist Award as well as a nod for Album of the Year. The hit single “Stand” was also nominated for Song of the Year. The album also features soul-stirrers like “Pour Your Oil On Me” and toe-tappers like “He Hideth” (Gospel Rock).

He presently hosts four shows on his GL365 Radio and Web TV: The Gospel Joy Morning Show, Reggae Uninterrupted, Prayze Effect, and Fyah Friday.
