Thieanna goes pro!

Teen Sprint star signs with Adidas

Jamaican sprinting prodigy Thieanna Lee Terrelonge, at just 17 years old, has officially joined the professional ranks after securing a four-year deal with German sportswear giant Adidas. This marks the next step in what promises to be a thrilling career for the young athlete, who will now train under the guidance of Shanikie Osbourne at the Optimum Performance Track Club.

Terrelonge’s rise to prominence in the world of track and field has been nothing short of spectacular. A standout at the high school level, she achieved incredible success at the ISSA GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Championships, winning multiple gold medals, and at the CARIFTA Games, where she solidified her place as one of Jamaica’s most promising young sprinters.

Her remarkable achievements include a personal best of 11.13 seconds in the 100m, which earned her the Jamaican Junior 100m title in June 2023. That same year, she claimed gold in the 200m at the NACAC Under-18 Championships with a time of 23.53 seconds. She also earned a gold medal in the 100m at the NACAC championships, clocking 11.41 seconds.

Despite her early achievements, Terrelonge’s path hasn’t been without obstacles. While she won the Class 2 100m title in her first year at the prestigious ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Championships (Champs), she fell short of a double gold, finishing second in the 200m final behind Shanoya Douglas of Muschett High. She also faced challenges at the Under-20 World Championships in Lima, Peru, later that year, where an injury forced her to withdraw from the 100m after a disappointing performance in the first round, clocking 12.03 seconds.

In January 2025, Terrelonge’s decision to leave Edwin Allen High School shocked many and led to speculation regarding her reasons for the move. With her transition to the professional ranks and a new partnership with Adidas, Terrelonge is poised for greater achievements. Now under the guidance of Osbourne, a respected figure in Jamaican track and field,  Terrelonge embarks on this exciting new chapter with all eyes on the rising sprint star as she strives to reach new heights in international athletics.
