A fight for the unborn as abortion prayer vigil is launched

A testimony from a woman who decided to keep her baby and give her up for adoption after birth, is among several positive stories that have emerged from the launch of the 40 Days for Life in Jamaica.

The initiative was first launched last year March, and as the organisers hosted a kick-off rally on February 22 to usher in the second staging of the event, the hope is that Jamaicans will come on board and support the anti-abortion protest that will start along Ivy Green Crescent in Kingston on March 1 and continue for the next 40 days.

“The praise and worship and time in intercession was powerful and stirring as we joined hearts together that God would release his power to make the darkness of the abortion industry tremble and shatter before us and that the voice of fear that drives women to seek abortion would be silenced,” said Dr Daniel Thomas in giving his review of the launch which was held at the Covenant City Church in Kingston.

Dr. Thomas is president of the love March Movement (LMM), a Christian advocacy group.  The kick-off rally was orchestrated by Friends for Life, the practical pro-life arm of the LMM.

Christina Milford from the Pregnancy Resource Centre of Jamaica shared on the horrors of abortion procedures, while Sarah Webster, vice-president of the LMM delved into “40Days for Life as a Solution” detailing the achievements of 40Days For Life America, internationally and Jamaica’s success with 21 babies saved so far from abortion since last year’s prayer vigil.  Pastor Courtney Bailey from Restoration Family Church gave a powerful charge for Jamaicans to value life.
