In an Instagram reel by Zimbaliretreats, Kary’s daughter is as bright as a morning star. Skipping up and down steps without doorways, pointing this way and that, she takes us on a journey through what was once her home, now rubbled by Hurricane Melissa. “This was the front yard,” she says, drawing an imaginary line with her hands. She runs down two steps. “And we used to walk right here to go to the bathroom.”
She points at her mommy’s mattress, her broken red comb, a crayon, and then the precocious toddler comes to a halt when she spots a Bible. She picks it up.
As the cameraman focuses attention on the Living Word, left unscathed by the ferocious winds and rain, he appears mesmerised. Holding it in his hand, he seems to forget momentarily that he is interviewing the child, and you can hear him murmuring, “But even in the ashes, the Holy Scriptures…still there…still right on. The Holy Scriptures…right here.”
Thanks be to God, Zimbaliretreats has already started a Go-fund-me to help Kary and her precious daughter get back on their feet again.
