ACCM Backs Government’s Refusal of Same-Sex Couple at US Embassy

The Association of Christian Communicators and Media (ACCM) commends the Government of Jamaica for protecting the   Constitution by not accepting a United States diplomat along with a same-sex spouse to serve in Jamaica.

The Jamaica Constitution is explicit in the rejection of same-sex marriage, and the act of buggery. Marriage in Jamaican law is between one man and one woman, which is based on the Judeo-Christian foundation of our country.

Like Jamaica, the United States is governed by the rule of law and the Constitution is supreme. So, we expect the US Government to respect the laws and mores of our country. The tit-for-tat persecution by the US of Jamaican diplomats posted there smacks of bullying Jamaica and its people and must not be countenanced at any level.

After 60 years of Independence, Jamaicans know what they stand for. They have been clear in their opposition to same-sex marriage and the offence of buggery. In this regard, the ACCM commends the Jamaican Government for respecting the views of the people.

ACCM continues to call for the establishment of Ministry or Commission for the Family to focus on a deliberate process to rebuild our communities and our nation on a firm and righteous foundation.

Let us secure our Jamaica for the next generation.
