Air travel jitters as plane crashes increase

Anxiety among airline passengers is set to increase in 2025 in the wake of several fatal plane crashes in recent weeks.

According to the prophecies for 2025, which are carried exclusively in the Freedom Come Rain, there will be more air disasters, and so Christians are being urged to pray that there won’t be any mass causalities.

Several recent airplane incidents have captured headlines and sparked concern about the safety of air travel. Three separate incidents in the last two weeks—aboard South Korean, Canadian, and Azerbaijani airlines—have fuelled new levels of anxiety. The most recent incident happened on Sunday, December 28 in South Korea, when a Boeing passenger jet crash-landed at Muan International Airport, killing 179 people. It is the deadliest aviation disaster in the country since 1997. South Korean authorities are said to be probing the cause of the accident with the help of investigators from the United States.

Days before, 38 people were killed when an Azerbaijan Airlines flight crashed after entering Russian airspace in Grozny, Chechnya. The incident happened on Christmas Day. The cause of this crash is still being debated, but Russian President Vladimir Putin “apologised for the fact that the tragic incident occurred in Russian airspace.”

Airline travel has enjoyed a strong safety record over the years, but the recent spate of fatal crashes has caused many to question whether it is indeed the safest method of transportation.

Following the deaths of the 179 passengers on Jeju Air Flight 2216, the low-cost South Korean carrier told AFP that it faced a wave of cancellations. In just one day, the number of cancelled flight tickets totalled approximately 68,000, a Jeju Air official told AFP. Major travel agencies were also reporting mass cancellations due to crash-related travel anxiety.

According to CNN, there were 30 airline accidents recorded in 2023, the most recent year for which full-year accident data are available, amounting to a risk of one accident every 1.26 million flights. But according to the 2025 prophecy, the rate of accidents is going to increase this year due to several factors. One major reason will be the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to fly aircrafts. A number of aircrafts are being enhanced with new technologies to the extent that the pilots will have less control over them. AI will have taken over for the most part, and as a result of technological glitches, there will be malfunctioning of some aircrafts. Some pilots will also suffer from the effects of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Based on the prophecies, there will also be air disasters and maritime disasters as a result of terrorist activities. As more wars are being fought, there will be incidents where aircrafts and vessels, such as ships, are attacked. Passengers will be caught in the crossfire. They will be targeted because of the nation that they are related to.
