There are many disasters affecting our planet. Some could be prevented if we showed more concern and caution in our day to day activities. Similarly, some conditions which occur in the mouth mirror what we do to our environment. Thankfully, it’s not too late to change our ways.
Bush fires and drought!
These two go hand in hand. Drought dries up everything; our crops, our productivity…everything. Also, it’s now common to see bush fires on the hillside because of dryness and heat. Now did you know that the dry hot feeling you may be experiencing, could result from drought in the mouth?
A dry mouth causes a pasty and lack of energy feeling. Illness, some medications, drinking substances like alcohol and not drinking enough water, all contribute to dry mouth conditions.
So what happens when there is a drought in the mouth? Bad breath and cavities increase. Dr Lawson-Myers has a solution for that. “Eat sugarless gum/candy. This will help reduce the effects of a cavity breeding environment that a dry mouth will cause. Plus, having more fruit and veggies will decrease the chances of cavities, provide moisture, and boost the digestive system overall. And of course, drink a lot of water. Just like our plants and crops, if we give them enough water, there will be fewer fires, and they will flourish!”
