International gospel artiste Kevin Downswell took to Instagram to highlight the dangers of encouraging what your eyes choose to feast on.
Commenting on the clip, which depicts two young men talking under the captioned words, “just looking,” one pointed out to the other the consequences of what started out with a look by King David. That one look led to him having to kill one of his soldiers to cover up the fact that he slept with his wife and she was pregnant.
A frank Downswell points out that the topic is not talked about enough, especially for those dealing with the situation. His encouraging words to those struggling are simple: “Remember every battle you win, no matter how small, leads to the ultimate victory you’ve been praying for.”
Pointing to the scripture that deals with temptation, he quoted James 4:7, stating that it is a clear indication that when the Bible asks us to “resist the devil, and he will flee” (James 4:7b), you can and you have the God-given power to not do what the enemy wants you to, no matter how hard it may seem.
“But you must want it; it won’t just happen. You must be vigilant to avoid certain scenarios that feed these unGodly passions, and don’t put yourself into unnecessary situations thinking you can handle it. Run if you need to run, because running is also a win,” the “You Make Me Stronger” singer wrote.
Downswell, in highlighting the source of true strength to walk away and live a righteous life, said it comes from God Himself. His encouragement is to draw strength and grace from Him through His word and being in His presence through prayer and worship.
