CLARENDON 10-YEAR-OLD MUSICAL GENIUS
Ten-year-old Ayele-Jon Mighty is doing what his father never got the
chance to do – live the dream of having his own music studio and
producing songs like a pro!
Young Mighty who taught himself a lot of what he knows, via YouTube
Tutorials, said from as far back as he can remember he has always been
into music – fostered by his father Maurice who is a music lover
himself.
“I am living my father’s dream as he dreamed of having his own
studio,” he shared with Freedom Come Rain.
Ayele-Jon’s father, giving him a fond smile, shared that from as young
as age two his son would break little limbs from the mango tree to
make ‘drum sticks’ and knock pans around the yard. He said he could
see the passion his s
on had for music and his sisters (Ayele-Jon’s
aunts) saw it too buying him a little drum set that he played nonstop.
When he got older they bought him a professional drum set and he got
so good he played the drums at the church the family attended, Palmer’s
Cross Church of God of Prophecy.
“I realise that as he grew and he went to church and he is playing in
church and he is making beats on the cellphone and he had this passion
and turning it out,” Maurice shared
Feeding into that passion he taught his son to play the keyboard. With
a laugh, he quipped that now he plays it better than him!
Ayele-Jon who attends Mineral Heights Christian Preparatory School in
Clarendon is ahead in his school work, something his father credits
his love of music for and is solid in his commitment to carve a niche
for himself in the music business.
Sitting in front of an impressive iMac computer, he said one if his
aunts gifted it to him after he carried out extensive research on the
kind of computer he would need to produce first-class quality music.
After acquiring the computer, Ayele-Jon said he downloaded a software
he would need and from then on ‘went to class’ via tutorials where he
perfected his craft.
The youngster stood inches taller when adults came to his studio and
he had the opportunity to not only mix songs but to input his own
original beats.
“They recorded some vocals and I added effects and stuff, then added
the beats that I made for it,” he quipped adding that he has since
been receiving a lot of good feedback on his work.
With his father very strict about schoolwork, Ayele-Jon said that is
not a problem for him as he knows just how to balance his time.
“When I get home from school, I do my homework first then the rest of
the evening until 7 pm, I practise my craft then after that I relax,”
he shared.
His musical skills are not lost on his friends as they ask him to
teach them and it is something he happily obliges to do.
Commenting on the genres he enjoys, Ayele-Jon said among them are
drill music which he says originates from the United Kingdom, and trap.
As for his father, he is amazed at how proficient his son is and
praises his ‘natural ear’ for music.
