Dear Editor,
To say that Christianity is outdated is the same as to say that the Bible is outdated. Let us examine this claim. When something is outdated, it means that it has served its purpose and it is no longer relevant. Is that true about the Holy Bible?
The Relevance Of The Bible
Christians are those who believe that we have all sinned and are in need of God’s saving grace through Jesus Christ, who died for our sins. As we repent and follow Christ as our LORD and Saviour, we are still not perfect, we still sin from time to time. This means that we are in need of God’s cleansing grace continually, which will always be relevant while this earth last.
The Government of Jamaica is selling out Jamaica. For example, our Education System is in a crisis on many fronts. There is a push for “Comprehensive Sexuality Education” to be part of the Curriculum in schools, to be taught to children as young as 5 years old and up. This Curriculum emphasizes the right of people to practise unnatural sexual acts, which are contrary to the Bible, and to teach that these unnatural sexual acts are “normal”! This is one of the conditions of “The Samoa Agreement”, which was signed recently by the Government of Jamaica, in order to get extra “budgetary support”. What is influencing the Government of Jamaica to be so willing to introduce such a perversion in schools? Lots of money is being pumped into the Ministry of Education through “The Samoa Agreement”. Does the Bible have anything to say about this present crisis? 1st Timothy 6:10 reads: “…the love of money is the root of all evil…”
Another alarming thing that is happening in Jamaica is the increase of violence: not just domestic violence, but school violence, such as the increase of vicious fighting among school children to the extent of becoming fatal! Does the Holy Bible have anything to say about this increase of violence? Matthew 24:11 reads: “Such will be the spread of evil that many people’s love will grow cold.” (Good News Translation)
Another fulfillment of the Bible, that is happening right now in our world is the breaking out of wars among different countries–one wonders if World War III is on the horizon! Let us hope not. Does the Bible speak on this problem? Matthew 24:6-7 reads: “You are going to hear the noise of battles close by and the news of battles far away; but do not be troubled. Such things must happen, but they do not mean that the end has come. Countries will fight each other, kingdoms will attack one another. ” (Good News Translation)
Are we experiencing an increase in earthquakes right here in Jamaica? Sometimes some frightening ones! What does the Bible say about this problem? Matthew 24:7 reads: “There will be famines and earthquakes everywhere.” We are living in what is called “the end times”, and we are seeing the fulfillment of the Bible right before our eyes.
The Bible is relevant for it is like “the news behind the news”. Jesus speaks: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Matthew 24:35) Good News Translation. Amen.
Praise be to God,
Praise be to Jesus Christ,
Praise be to the Holy Spirit.
I am,
