Biblical money principles

Ecclesiastes 5:10-12 – He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity. When goods increase, they increase who eat them, and what advantage has their owner but to see them with his eyes? Sweet is the sleep of a labourer, whether he eats little or much, but the full stomach of the rich will not let him sleep.

As a people, we often get overwhelmed with money matters that seem to just resign us to a perpetual cycle of regret and force us to merely get through the day while passing time and feeling depressed. Do you know that there are over 2,000 verses in the Bible that give attention to money matters? I submit that the Bible has the whole blueprint for taking care of your money.

Here are a few Biblical financial principles from the scriptures for your consideration:

Philippians 4:19 – But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

God is our source and has promised to supply all our needs. There is, therefore, no need to stress, worry, or obsess over money because He will provide using family, friends, and even your enemy.

Luke 6:38 – Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

When you give, you’re setting yourself up to receive great blessings from that act. It might not be as immediate as you envision, but it will be just in time. It will be so bountiful that it will impact your family, friends, and wider society for the greater good.

Proverbs 22:7 – The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.

When you owe money, you are a slave to the lender. It’s important that we avoid or pay off high-interest debts that will limit our ability to build wealth.

Proverbs 24:3-4 – By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.

To build wealth, there should be four things of focus: what you own, what you owe, what you earn, and where it goes. Without this knowledge, you cannot build wealth. Therefore, it’s important for you to take the time to track where your money is going.

Proverbs 15:22 – Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.

If you are an individual trying to map out your financial future, then a financial advisor is recommended. To achieve financial goals and get them quickly, receiving good financial advice can provide well-needed perspective instead of you trying to figure things out on your own, ultimately costing you time and money.
