Bridal Expo entice local and overseas brides-to-be

The Montego Bay Convention Centre grand ballroom was transformed into an array of colours and beauty last weekend for the 12th  staging of the Jamaica Bridal Expo.

Wedding industry aficionados turned out in their numbers for fresh perspectives on wooing lovebirds to have their nuptials in their tourism mecca. The event has established itself as one that brings the best of Jamaica’s wedding professionals together under one roof.

The expo has offered wedding professionals and destination brides the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the top destinations, best hotels, and services in Jamaica for the bridal market.

Jo-Anne Paxton, one of the executive producers of the event, said the  idea behind having the expo was that persons overseas could come and realise what Jamaica has to offer in the destination wedding industry.

“A lot of brides think about getting married in Jamaica, but they’re worried, ‘does Jamaica have the tablecloth that I want? Do they have the flowers that I want? And yes, we have everything, but people have to find a way to find out this information, and by having an event like the Jamaica Bridal Expo, we’re able to share this information with the travel advisors that have attended with us this weekend’,” she shared.

Paxton revealed that in the early days of staging the expo, two years in a row, they had a live wedding on stage. Although this did not take place at this year’s event, she is hoping it can be revived for future staging.

The executive producer indicated that  the bridal expo is not just targeting foreigners but locals too. It is hoped that more and more locals will make use of the opportunity and capitalise on the event year after year.
