Chat ’bout “artificial” sermons!

Is this for real?

It was bound to happen, and it is likely to get worse. Apostasy, in many shapes, forms and varied levels, is on the rise.

Pastors, some of whom are at different stages of outright rebellion against God, have discovered that the artificial intelligence portal CHATGPT provides a perfect cover for no prayer, no reading of the Word, zero fasting and seeking God; living a life of sin, but still presenting the most “impactful” sermons.

“IT’S INFALLIBLE, BEYOND HUMAN WISDOM”

This portal, developed only three months ago, November 2022 to be exact, promises to do many things.

Only last week, a dear friend, breathless and bursting with excitement, introduced me to the platform. He was convinced that every editor must become acquainted with this genius of an innovation that can answer any question, do in-depth research, write error-free copy and produce any expert response to myriads of issues in only a few seconds.

It is bragged to be the development of the decade! It is said to be infallible and beyond human wisdom.

CHATGPT has been growing in popularity, churning out realms of creative work, analyses, and speeches at the click of a button.

Like many others before it, this portal was developed by young entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley. Sam Altman, a Jewish college dropout who believes that politics has generally replaced religion leads the ownership group, which included people like multi-billionaire Elon Musk.

The platform is expected to be a money-making machine, earning billions for its stakeholders, easily mimicking and replacing brain power with algorithmic modeling, analysing, and generating useful human-like solutions to every possible and impossible problem.

It is described as the most magnificent collaboration of the world’s brightest minds into one place.

It is supposed to be a marvelous improvement on Google and other similar AI portals. It is a step closer to the total replacement of the right functioning human brain; a replica of God’s infinite wisdom, ultimate efficiency, and omniscience at your fingertips.

PUSHING AWAY PAPER-PUSHING PROFESSIONALS

CHATGPT has the potential to replace teachers, speech writers, marketing strategists, social engineers, other high-priced experts in various sectors, consultants and a plethora of other paper-pushing professionals.

A New York Post report last week indicated that several pastors who have used the platform to write sermons claim that the congregations were as welcoming of the artificially-produced orations as they were of those that were written after much prayer and supplication.

The question of the absence of the ‘soul, the sanctuary of the True and Living God’ in the artificially produced sermons was quickly raised and speedily dismissed.

The believers in this master invention are not detained by the fact that information churned out by CHATGPT is not always safe, sacrosanct, or even accurate.

The same CHATGPT that provides supposed righteous sermons, is the same source that presents hedonism as a preferred way of life, occult worship, support homosexuality and transgenderism, abortions and all other forms of unrighteousness.

CHATGPT PASTORS NOT RELYING ON THE HOLY SPIRIT

This artificial intelligence platform is specifically designed to replace the presence of God and the need to pray, seek His face, and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Without repentance and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, there is no relationship with God, regardless of how expertly crafted these CHATGPT sermons may be.

A pastor who has strayed away from the saving Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, embracing the ways of the world and reliant on CHATGPT for his messages, will not only be led astray, but will eventually lead the congregation astray.

For aeons, some pastors have been regurgitating and reproducing sermons even while they are in a backslidden state. Not only is the message, though rooted in scriptures, an academic exercise, a figment of their backslidden imaginations; it is a big pretence, an artificial show of sorts to unsuspecting congregants.

Leaders who have backslidden have become completely blind, foolish, without understanding.

The Bible makes it very clear: Backsliding is an evil, bitter thing — and it has awful consequences!

“Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord God of hosts.” (2:19)

FALLIBLE HUMANS CAN’T CREATE AN INFALLIBLE SYSTEM

While it is true that the Word of God is bound to deliver His exact intent, even if it comes through a dead donkey’s head, there is a level of deception that is proffered to the congregants who receive the artificially created sermons under the pretext that it is the Word delivered from God in His appointed season.

It may be hard to believe, but online platforms are the creation of flawed human beings, many of whom do not believe in the God of our Salvation, nor are they obligated to the tenets of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The enemy has always tried to replace God in the world and these platforms have been designed to do exactly that, by those who serve mammon.

It is presented as omniscient, omnipresent and infallible, ironically controlled by flawed and foolish men.

Anything contrived in falsehood is in the realm of the enemy, and any material coming through these airwaves can easily be subject to demonic interventions. Sermons written by a machine will likely deliver the will and purpose of the designer.

Sermons are meant to be the core of a worship service – and are the church leaders’ best shot at imparting God’s Word for the season under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

ChatGPT can do no such thing.
