Christian Broadcaster Dr. Charles Stanley Passes Away at 90
Dr. Charles Stanley, a well-known pastor, author, and broadcaster for Christianity, has died. He passed away early on April 18th, at the age of 90.
Through his Bible-teaching ministry, Dr. Stanley contributed to the global proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ over his 65 years of service.
He served as the pastor of First Baptist Church Atlanta for 50 years before stepping down in 2020. The Atlanta church is currently one of the most ethnically diverse churches in America, with members hailing from 98 different countries of origin.
In addition to being the lead pastor of North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia, his son Andy Stanley is also well-known for founding the organisation.
The senior Stanley also started In Touch Ministries, which he did in 1977 in order to transmit Bible instruction on radio and television all across the world. “In Touch Family, God called our beloved pastor, Dr. Charles Stanley, home to heaven this morning,” the ministry wrote in a post. “Dr. Stanley led an obedient life and is already experiencing the joy of his soul—getting to see his Saviour in person. Help us in praying for the Stanley family by joining us.”
