Where have all the Christian parents gone? One of the reasons for society’s decay is definitely parents being too loose when it comes to bringing up their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
As a child growing up, going to Sunday school was a must, even though my parents weren’t going to church themselves!
Christian parents who allow their children to dictate what they want, instead of passing on their values, are acting inexcusably. Instead of filling our homes with things that lift the spirit, we have allowed our children to become the ones making the decisions by bringing filthy music into the home. Perhaps the question we should ask ourselves is, “What would Jesus say about the songs my children are listening to?” If you are not comfortable with the answer, then you know it’s time for you to be a parent and save them from themselves.
When was the last time you had devotion with your children? Can you even get them to pay attention to that? Or have they gone too far in the ways of the world to be interested in spiritual matters now?
Christian parents, you have a duty to bring your children up the way God ordained. It’s an awesome responsibility and one not to be taken lightly. Loving your children to death is no joke; your refusal to put your foot down when it comes to the things they feed on may be the cause of their spiritual or even physical death.
The priesthood was taken away from Eli because he refused to correct his two sons when they weren’t walking the way they should. In the end, their father paid the price for his refusal to put his foot down.
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
Now, instead of Christian values being passed on to them, they are being left to the mercies of songs that offer nothing but disrespect and curse words and movies filled with expletives, sex, and violence.
How can we speak about the breakdown of society when we can’t even control the things that are taking place in our homes?
Children are allowed to dress any way they want to, with their clothes hanging off their bodies, and we just allow it to happen, thinking it’s the norm. They no longer speak with respect to their elders, and we find it amusing.
It’s time to wake up; just who are the Christians in the homes? Have we forgotten that we may be in the world, but we are certainly not of the world? When people look at your children, can they emphatically say that that child is coming from a Christian home?
I don’t mean to knock anyone, but the time has come for parents to hold themselves accountable. One of the saddest things is that the ones we love the most are the ones we are leaving to be fed by the world. We are not even trying to save them. We have perhaps witnessed to many others who are not as close to us, while leaving out the souls of those who are.
It is time to put your feet down. Reclaim your children before it is too late.
