Crystal Daye’s Testimony: Overcoming Fear

At the beginning of 2016, I made a statement that I would love to preach on a bus.

The Lord instructed me to sell my car in March, so I had no other choice but to take the bus.

Although I was now forced to take the bus, I didn’t want to preach on a bus. One morning, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “well you made a promise, so it’s time to fulfil it.” I’m like, “no I didn’t make a promise; it was an empty desire.” So I ignored it. A couple days later, I still kept hearing the prompting to do it (this was approaching the time of the annual She’s Royal Conference).

One particular Friday morning, I took a bus, and a lady was preaching. then I heard the Holy Spirit say, “now that’s someone being obedient.” I felt a bit embarrassed, but I was conversing with God to say, “I feel forced.” He said, “how dare you believe you deserve to stand on a stage but you can’t deliver my message in a bus?” (I was floored.) He didn’t stop. “how can you say you love people but not care about their souls?”

“But God, I do care about their souls, but I’m afraid,” I said.

God responded, “People are dying and don’t know me, and your problem is a little fear.” I was again speechless and embarrassed.

So on my way to church the following Sunday, you know who had to be preaching in the bus, right?

Even though I was very fearful, I knew someone needed to be reminded of God’s love plus I must be obedient. I decided, fear or not, I must do it anyway! And from that experience, that’s the approach I’ve been taking towards anything that makes me fearful “just do it anyway.”

God is so faithful to us; we just need to be faithful to small things even before we desire to do big things.
