Cynthia Gallimore impacting Mt Charles Square through prayer

Cynthia Gallimore had no hesitation in answering the call to serve on the frontline as part of the Peaceful Prayer Protest.

When she heard about it on TBC Radio, she recalled it being sometime in April, and given her desire for souls to be saved, she knew she wanted to be a part of it.

The result was that Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays saw her being on the frontline at Mt Charles Square in  St Mary. She has made an impact on members of the public, as she along with a small group of believers regularly gather to pray, share scripture, and encourage spiritual renewal among passersby.

The non-denominational peaceful prayer gathering is now active in over 80 locations

islandwide. The gathering focuses on advocating for spiritual and societal change through prayer, scripture readings, and non-violent protests. The ultimate goal: to encourage righteousness and national transformation through faith.

In an interview with Freedom Come Rain, Gallimore said she and the team felt led

to go out and share the message of Christ.

“It was about obedience and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide,” she said.

Although they have three set days when they minister, Gallimore said the group is flexible, sometimes switching to other weekdays such as Mondays or Wednesdays

depending on personal appointments and availability. Despite its informal nature, Gallimore said the outreach has been consistent and well received.

Public response, she noted, has been overwhelmingly positive. In addition to encouraging members of the public, the outreach has also strengthened the confidence of those participating.

“Persons who were once shy have become bold in sharing their faith,” she said.

Several encounters during the outreach have stood out as particularly meaningful. In one instance, the team approached a young man on his way to work and invited him to accept Jesus Christ. “This young man was going to work, and one of the team members would have approached him, inviting him to accept Jesus Christ, and immediately his response was that he was ready. He repeated the sinner’s prayer, and a few days after, I saw the driver that the young man was waiting on, and the driver said that when the young man came into the vehicle, he said that he felt light, like a weight lifted from off him,” Gallimore shared.

She noted that in another encounter, a young man visibly overwhelmed with emotion,

approached the group just as members were preparing to leave for the day. He was crying and appeared to be going through significant personal challenges. The group prayed with him, reassured him of God’s love, and encouraged him to give God a chance in his life. Scriptures were shared to remind him of his strength and purpose.

On a separate occasion, a couple stopped in the middle of the roadway and publicly prayed the sinner’s prayer together, drawing the attention of nearby pedestrians and motorists.

Gallimore said the group has faced no challenges or opposition while ministering at Mt Charles Square. She explained that members of the public are generally willing to listen, pray, and engage in conversation until their transportation arrives.

The messages shared during the outreach are based on core Christian teachings,

including repentance and turning from unrighteousness to righteousness, the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the importance of personal transformation. Scriptures such as Romans 12, which speaks of the renewal of the mind; John 3:16, which highlights God’s love for humanity; and Ezekiel 37, a passage emphasising hope and restoration, are frequently referenced.

The Great Commission, as outlined in Matthew 28:19–20, motivates the group. Gallimore added that the work, while simple, carries deep significance. “There is a special joy in knowing that a soul has moved from sin to grace,” she said.

The prayer outreach continues its regular presence at Mt Charles Square, offering prayer, encouragement, and spiritual guidance to anyone willing to listen.
