DEVOTIONAL: DO ALL YOU DO FOR GOD’S GLORY

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is (Psalm63:1)

By Shelia Clarke

…And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto me. (Colossians 3:23)

How Christlike are we in all that we do? We are not always appreciative of each other as we should, but we are instructed by the Word to do what we do for God’s glory. So many times we feel unappreciated by those with whom we work and the most natural thing to do is to be spiteful in what we do but in doing so, we would be disobeying the instructions given to us by God.

Since it is God who is our Provider, when we do all that we do to please Him, doors are opened up for us to receive the blessings of the LORD. The moment we begin to see life through the lens of our Heavenly Father, we have no need to complain or to be spiteful in our dealings with each other, because we would now understand the economy of the Kingdom of God and that God is Jehovah Jireh, no matter what.

The Word of God gives us instructions for life. If we should go throughout the pages of the Bible, we would see the Father’s heart and would do all we can to follow the standards He has set out for us to follow.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10)

The moment we get to understand who we are and to Whom we belong, our very mindset will change and we will begin to walk as citizens of heaven, even though we live in the earth; for we are in the world but not of the world, as long as we have acknowledged Jesus Christ to be our personal LORD and Saviour.

They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. (John 17:16 KJV)

We therefore have to be transformed by asking the LORD to help us renew our minds and take on the mind of Christ, in order that we may please Him. When we receive and operate with the mind of Christ, we will do everything differently; doing it heartily; doing it always for the glory of God.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2)
