From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. James 4:1-2
Can you picture a person’s body fighting against itself? I had a thought recently about the hands fighting the foot, and the foot fighting the head, and even the hands fighting each other, and what I envisioned was nothing short of chaos.
Suddenly, I thought of the body of Christ and envisioned members fighting each other and that was not a pretty picture.
James asked the question: “From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?”
But how can the body survive its own abuse? This could prove suicidal.
Picture the body of Christ: one member totally against another member – fighting about this, fighting against that. Where is the love that Jesus speaks about?
Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Matthew 22:36-39
So where is the love? How can we war against each other? There are even cases where members begrudge each other for their position. If we are called by God then there is but one body of Christ which cannot, by any means, fight itself because we are the body of Christ.
The altar is readily available for us to repent. Let us be one.
JESUS PRAYED
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; [21] that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. John 17:20-21 KJV
It is time for us to unite and represent He whose body we are.
