Psalm 75:6-7 “For our promotion cometh neither from the east nor from the West, nor from the south, but GOD is the judge: He putteth down one and setteth upon thee.”
Sometimes, as Christians, we fall into the trap of thinking that people should be helping us towards our destiny. We think people should see our gifts and open doors for us and see the call of GOD on our lives as clearly as we do; and if we’re not careful, we get disappointed. That disappointment can turn into unforgiveness, that unforgiveness into bitterness, and then our soul becomes poisoned and GOD can’t move us forward to promote us.
But we can get rid of this cycle, and all it takes is a spiritual understanding that promotion comes from GOD alone. Only GOD knows the heart and mind of everyone, and He is the door operator – He opens doors that no one can shut, and closes doors that no man can open.
When we understand where our promotion comes from, then we’re no longer concerned about our leader’s actions, our bank balances, or our family friendships. Those things no longer matter because we see that GOD alone stands in authority over our destiny. He will bring us into it when He is ready.
LET US PRAY
Merciful God and our Father, I come to You today to pray about our promotion. We have been working hard and faithfully at our jobs, and we’re asking for Your help in advancing our careers. I know that You have a plan for our lives and I know that You want us to be successful in all that we do in Your name. Please show us where we may be impeding our own progress.
Grant us grace and help us to honour You, even as we wait on Your timing. Amen.
