Today, August 1, 2020, RAIN came to Spanish Town, Jamaica’s Old Capital. In much the same way that the sun arose on August 1, 1838 over the Old Kings House, where the Proclamation of Emancipation from Slavery was read; so did it arise today to usher in the august dawning of a brand new era in Jamaica.
The sombre time of reflection that normally evokes varying degrees of anger and sadness on August 1, was lightened today with the launch of a new beacon of hope – Freedom Come Rain Newspaper. Operating under the auspices of Freedom Come Ministries International, which is headed by Reverend Jeffrey Shuttleworth, Freedom Come Rain has been strategically designed to become JAMAICA’s Number ONE (1) Family Paper.
Every speaker at this morning’s Launch echoed with pride the objectives of Freedom Come Rain – to edify, to encourage and to equip readers with information and stratagems that will liberate them from emotional, financial, intellectual, physical and spiritual slavery.
In keeping with Jamaica’s mandate to play her ‘part in advancing the welfare of the whole human race’ (words from Jamaica’s National Pledge), Rain Newspaper also has an online presence and guests at the Launch were advised that copies would be accessible outside of Jamaica, for Rain’s content is not only of national import, but is general enough to significantly benefit global readers.
Copies of the Paper were available to buyers at a special introductory price and sellers were easily identified as they navigated the environs of the Old Capital, with RAIN umbrellas held aloft.
Guests at the event later commented that for many of them, this was their first trip to Old Kings House, an historical landmark of monumental importance to any discussion on the abolition of Slavery, and the experience would have left them feeling disillusioned, bitter and angry for change…. had it not been for RAIN.
