The suspension of the National Family Planning Board (NFPB) Yute Chatz services by the Ministry of Health has been declared a welcome first step by some persons in the Christian community, but there are calls for more to be done to stop the indoctrination of Jamaican children into sexual deviancy.
The Yute Expression’s Yute Chatz chatbot was launched by the National Family Planning Board (NFPB) in collaboration with UNICEF and U-Report Jamaica last year November, and is aimed at providing sexual and reproductive health advice. However, several concerns have been mounted about the advice being given to children.
These concerns were highlighted by Christian youth group, the Love March Movement (LMM), which noted that the appwas advocating LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) ideologies and directing children to the seek advice from J-FLAG, a local gay rights lobby group. J-FLAG which has been rebranded Equality Ja., stands for the Jamaica Forum for Lesbians, All-Sexuals and Gays.
President of the LMM, Dr Daniel Thomas told the Freedom Come Rain newspaper that while he understands that the suspension is part of the process to facilitate the investigation, he is not satisfied with only a suspension.
“We hope that the investigation will reveal that the information that we have brought forward is accurate and is outrageous and should therefore result in the complete removal of the app,” he said.
He also wants, “an assessment of the National Family Planning Board strategies and policies and all their partnership, because the Yute Chatz chatbot is essentially the fruit of a poisonous tree.”
In a media release on Monday, the health ministry said it has noted the concerns raised by members of the public and is assessing them as they relate to the Health and Family Life Policy of the Government of Jamaica. The Ministry said the service would be suspended in the interim, while the assessments are being conducted.
Chairman of the Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society (JCHS) Dr. Wayne West, said any national effort to point children to the gay lifestyle should not be taken lightly.
“Any government that does that, should be booted out. So I think that if any Jamaican parent, who has a child, who the government has a system in place to refer to J-FLAG without even consenting the parent, that is something that any government should be taken out of power for,” he said.
“I am not saying who we should put in place instead of them, but they should be taken out. That is a gross, gross affront to the parents and children that the government of the country has set up a system in place to send children to J-Flag. The Jamaican people should be on the streets,” said Dr West who noted that both political parties are pushing agendas that are ungodly.
The LMM and the JCHS invited members of the public to protest in front of the
Ministry of Health New Kingston headquarters on Friday. The groups invited parents, teachers and all well-thinking Jamaicans to join the protest.
Chairman of Jamaica CAUSE and leader of the Jamaica Evangelical Alliance, Dr Alvin Bailey, noted that while the chatbot was suspended following the outrage, several other programmes aimed at promoting sexually deviate behaviours among children are ongoing.
“We are aware that there are other initiatives that are taking place within our nation, in order to promote this unhealthy lifestyle of the homosexual agenda. We want you to know that we are keeping a keen eye. We are also aware that there are persons in Jamaica who are receiving money from these international organisations that are promoting homosexuality,” he stated.
Based on his own investigation, he has found that guidance counsellors in schools, politicians and some children are being recruited to assist in spreading the gay agenda.
“We are saying, keep your practice to yourself, because the Jamaican society has spoken loudly, that we will not accept or seek to legalise homosexuality in Jamaica,” Bishop Bailey said.
