Elevation Worship Releases “So Be It”

A decade after the release of its influential album Here As In Heaven, contemporary worship collective Elevation Worship has returned with a new live recording titled So Be It.

The Charlotte-based worship group first gained widespread attention in 2016 with Here As In Heaven, a project that produced several widely used worship songs, including Resurrecting and O Come to the Altar. That album helped shape the modern worship sound heard in many churches around the world today.

Ten years later, the group’s latest project continues in a similar musical and theological direction. So Be It is a 10-track live album that emphasises declarations of faith and agreement with biblical promises. The album’s concept reflects the idea that while people may make plans, the ultimate outcome rests with God—a theme often referenced in Christian teaching and scripture.

The new recording features several well-known collaborators from the contemporary worship community. Among them are Chandler Moore, Brandon Lake, and Leeland, each contributing vocals to different tracks.

The album opens with the title track, “So Be It”, which functions as a central statement for the project. The song is structured around biblical themes and emphasises proclamation and collective worship. According to the review by Michael Carder of Jesusfreakhideout.com, the track stands out for its strong foundation in scripture and its ability to connect with congregational worship settings.

Another track highlighted in the review is “Alleluia”, featuring Chandler Moore. The song has an upbeat tone and is expected to translate easily into church worship services. Similarly, “Keep On”, led by Davide Mutendji, Tori Elliot, and Isaiah Templeton, maintains a high-energy style designed for live worship environments.

Several songs on the album revolve around a shared theme of calling on the name of Jesus. These include “I Know A Name”, featuring Brandon Lake, “Jesus Be the Name”, “Call God”, and “Your Name Is God”, which includes vocals from Leeland Mooring. Despite addressing similar themes, each track approaches the subject from a slightly different musical and lyrical perspective.

Among those songs, “Jesus Be the Name”, led by Tiffany Hudson, is described as especially accessible for congregational singing. The song’s straightforward lyrics and melody make it suitable for use in local church worship sets.

The album also includes “Thank You”, performed by Jonsal Barrientes and Tiffany Hudson, which focuses on gratitude for both past and future blessings. The song’s message centres on expressing appreciation for God’s continued work in the lives of believers.

One of the more reflective moments on the album comes with “I Got Saved”, led by Chris Brown. The track looks back at the moment of personal conversion and the experience of beginning a new spiritual life. Its simple structure and testimony-driven lyrics make it another song likely to resonate with church audiences.

The closing track, “God I’m Just Grateful”, again features Chandler Moore. The song brings the album to a reflective conclusion, emphasising personal gratitude and spiritual journey.

Overall, Carder describes So Be It as a consistent and cohesive worship project. While he notes that it may not surpass some of Elevation Worship’s earlier releases, he suggests that several songs from the album could quickly become widely used in church worship services over the coming year.
