In advocating for Father’s Day in Jamaica to be shifted from June to May instead, the couple shared with Freedom Come Rain newspaper that the Lord had spoken to them “about aligning the celebration of our fathers in May; thereby rightly placing the man, the father, at the head of the family. The supporting scripture He gave us was Luke 15:20, And he arose and came to his father.”
The Holnesses explained that, “By God’s grace and each year going forward, the plan is to have Father’s Day celebration the first Sunday in May, followed by Mother’s Day (as the husband is the head of the wife… Ephesians 5:22), and of course, the entire month of May is child’s month.”
Pastor Nicole admits that for years she was “always annoyed by Father’s Day being in June. Coming long after the excitement of mothers and children celebrating, it just felt out of whack based on God’s Word,” she remarked. “So, I thank God that by His grace, in this nation of Jamaica, we have the opportunity to cement this change in our history.”
