Foundation gospel singer, Glen Graham, has suffered two strokes and a heart attack and is badly in need of financial assistance.
In a Facebook interview by Garth Garrick and shared by fellow gospel artiste Jabez, a plea was made for assistance for Graham.
Graham, a voice from the 70s, is known for gospel gems such as ‘Oh If I Miss Heaven’, ‘Prepare To Meet Me There’, ‘Six Men Bringing You Back’, ‘Get On Board’, and ‘You’re Gonna Need Someone to Help You’.
Commenting on Graham’s situation, Jabez said he is involved in co-ordinating the assistance for him.
“He has also lost his passport, and so we are now in the process of trying to get him so he can return to Jamaica. He needs money for medication, especially for his blood pressure,” Jabez shared with Freedom Come Rain.
He also explained that Graham will need urgent care once he returns to Jamaica. He said he and a few other friends are trying to organise something for Graham, but it will need sustenance.
Graham, who is presently in Nasville, Tennessee, seemed a bit disoriented during the interview and was prodded to add his voice to plead for help.
“He’s in need of help. This man has done a lot in the gospel music industry in Jamaica over the years. That’s a lot. You gospel artistes that are watching now; he has paved the way that a lot of you can be living on the legacy of Jamaica gospel right now. So if any gospel artistes are in the church community who have been blessed by Reverend Glenn Graham’s songs over the years, anyone who can assist in some way,” interviewer Garrick pleaded.
Garrick also shared that he is calling on the church community in the United States and Jamaica to form a group so that something can be put together and donations can be made towards his assistance.
Garrick also, in highlighting Graham’s contribution to the gospel music industry, said he didn’t think he was treated fairly in the business or properly recognised. He pointed out also that Graham did not receive the royalty he deserved for his music.
“But I know that his music has blessed you over the years,” he stressed.
Born in Round Hill, St. Elizabeth, Graham grew up in Seaview, a community in the same parish. A past student of Seaview and Bigwood Primary Schools, Graham has always had an appreciation for music. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Saviour at age 19.
