Gender reveal!

Medical report confirms ‘female’ boxer has “testicles”

The 2024 Summer Olympics gold medallist in women’s boxing, Imane Khelif of Algeria, has become the centre of controversy following the ‘leak’ of a medical report, claiming that the olympian is in fact a man. A document discovered by French journalist Djaffar Ait Aoudia reveals that Khelif has internal testicles and XY chromosomes, indicating 5-alpha reductase insufficiency, a disease that affects sexual development.

Several experts questioned Khelif’s inclusion during the Summer Olympics 2024 in Paris, claiming she was a male after competing in the female boxing division at the international multi-sport event.

According to Reduxx, a recent medical report obtained by Djaffar Ait Aoudia reveals Khelif’s gender. The study was written in June 2023 as a partnership between the Kremlin-Bicêtre Hospital in Paris, France, and the Mohamed Lamine Debaghine Hospital in Algiers, Algeria.

The June 2023 report, made by medical professionals from Paris and Algiers, also referenced an MRI, which revealed the presence of a micropenis and confirmed the absence of a uterus. Khelif’s gender identity has been questioned before. The International Boxing Association (IBA) disqualified her from competing in the 2023 World Championship Gold Medal fight in New Delhi owing to identical chromosomal problems.

The latest disclosures have caused a social media outcry, with fans demanding that Khelif be removed of her title and apologise, with some even threatening criminal charges.

Khelif’s gender even became an election issue when Donald Trump used Imane’s example in an advertisement criticising the Biden-Harris administration’s attitude to gender and sports. When asked about their views on transgender people, GOP leaders such as Vivek Ramaswamy and JD Vance stated that they would not allow men to compete in female-only sports. Imane has addressed the gender row and said she is a woman and was born as a woman.

“I’m a woman like any other woman. I was born as a woman; I live as a woman, and I am qualified.” She said the gender debate triggered by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, author JK Rowling, and former US president Donald Trump affected her a lot. Rowling and Musk were named in a criminal complaint filed with French authorities over alleged “acts of aggravated cyber harassment.”
