God wants repentance from church and national leaders

Dear Editor

Government and people of Jamaica, hear what God says concerning you:

“At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turns from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.” (Jeremiah 18:7-8)

There is a popular view in the government and among this people that God hates: You think that you may freely change laws that are based on what God has commanded in the Bible. How may you make lawful what God has from ancient times declared to be unlawful? (See Deuteronomy 17:18-20)

You also think that it is not necessary to listen to what God has commanded in the Bible since you have views that are different from the Bible. God says that you must not follow your own heart nor follow your own eyes, but you must obey His Commandments.  (See Numbers 15:39)

You also think that culture determines what is right and wrong. However, God also says that you must not follow your culture nor your customs, but you must follow what He has commanded.  (See Leviticus 18:1-4)

God is the ultimate authority for what everyone, government and nation, is to believe and to obey.  It is not what you think, feel, nor the way that you see things;  but it is what God says is right is right, and what God says is wrong, is wrong.

Some churches have compromised with the government’s programme of changing the constitution and are trying to get the Jamaican population to accept these changes, which are being done in secret. God says to you churches, “You are supposed to call people to repentance!  You are not supposed to water down my commands to suit the population and to suit the government!”

For each one of you, God is willing to forgive what you are doing, if you repent and return to Him. However, if you are stubborn and refuse to humble yourselves and return to Him, the wrath of God will be released on this nation and on this government.

Therefore, I am calling on the government of Jamaica and on the church leaders who have compromised with the government, and on the nation, to repent and return to God.

For those churches, that are still calling on the government and on the nation to repent, God says:  “Keep on doing what you are doing!  Do not give up. Be my witnesses. Stand up at all times for righteousness and truth.”

Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.

I am,

Joseph Buckland
