At least two Haitians who landed in Jamaica and were sent back earlier this year, were among a group of approximately 35 Haitians who landed in Long Bay, Portland, on October 15.
The Haitians have since been sent back to violence plagued Haiti despite concerns that Jamaica has broken international law. There have been no official statement on the matter from the government.
This is the third mass landing of Haitians in Portland in recent times. In July, 37 Haitians landed on Boston Beach in Portland. They have since applied for asylum in Jamaica.
The group that landed on Sunday included women and children. The first group of 37 Haitians that arrived in July are still awaiting the decision on their asylum request.
