Jesus in our schools

Promoting Godly principles in schools

With the increasing lack of patience, kindness, gentleness, humility, reverence for God, and respect for our fellow man being demonstrated in our schools and society, ‘Jesus in our Schools‘ is a response to the unspoken cry of this generation. Birthed in the heart of Pastor Donnette Norman on April 19, 2024, Jesus in our Schools was officially launched on June 1 of said year at a teachers’ conference, hosted by combined efforts of the Inter-School Christian Fellowship (ISCF) and Christian Teachers In Action (CTIA) on the grounds of The St. Andrew High School for Girls.

The mandate of this initiative is to practically engage and encourage Christians to boldly demonstrate the character and lifestyle of Jesus Christ in them even while at school – whether they are an employee, parent, or student. After all, the life of Christ should be evident in Christians wherever they are. This is imperative and is a clarion call to a generation to find and live out God’s plan for their lives. As Jesus Christ declared to His disciples,

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden…let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:14,16 (KJV)

This mandate was further emphasised by the apostle Paul who made it applicable to those who might think age excuses them from being accountable to their Christian calling,

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4: 12 KJV

THE PARTNERS

Students Christian Fellowship and Scripture Union (SCFSU) – The parent body of Inter-School Christian Fellowship (ISCF) & Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF), which has served Jamaica for over 70 years. ISCF and UCCF exist in schools to bring students to Christ and strengthen their Christian witness. Their motto: “To know Christ and to make Him known” is a call to practical Christian living.

Christian Teachers in Action (CTIA) – a prayer, discipleship, equipping, and fellowship collaborative movement institution. Founded by Mrs. Donnette Norman, an ordained minister and trained teacher, the CTIA aims at having our nation’s teachers foster a wholesome relationship among each other, share creative ideas, be discipled and equipped for service, as well as corporately seek God for divine intervention in our educational institutions across Jamaica.

Passion and Purity – a non-profit organization, founded by Mr. and Mrs. Andrew and Donnette Norman, geared to help children and youth alike discover, accept, develop, and creatively express their God-given passion with purity of motive, thought, and action by embracing Godly principles. Its mission is succinctly captured in its motto: “Finding your passion…embracing your purity.”

Jesus in our Schools is led primarily by Christian teachers stationed inside their respective institutions, with the support of school administrators, parents, pastors, and all others who desire to see students walk in excellence and Godly character.
