Joele Matthews dreams of steering persons to true worship

Joele Matthews’ life might be busy right now as he navigates a full-time job and growing his business as a vocal coach, which he does privately. He also works in the music entertainment business as a DJ and provides karaoke services to companies and businesses, but he is set on creating his own niche as a gospel artiste.

A lover of several genres of music – not just gospel, jazz, contemporary, soul, and reggae, to name a few – he intends to blend that love into his recordings when he completes his first musical project – an album.

“Music reaches persons from different countries, cultures, and races. It’s a universal language. It’s the best way to reach and relate to people. My ultimate goal is to make good, clean music and create an atmosphere of worship,” he shared with Freedom Come Rain in an interview.

Filled with a desire to go full-time in music as a career, Matthews said he is looking forward to unleashing his talent to Christendom.

Sharing on his upcoming album, Matthews said when he does, the emphasis will be on worship – “to help people worship God truly from their hearts”.

“This album will take them into an intimate place of worship of our soon-coming king: Jesus Christ of Nazareth!”

Matthews gave his life to Jesus in 2020 and was baptised and filled with the Holy Spirit at the Tarrant Baptist Church. Describing his experience, he said he knew he could not walk away any longer, as

God had given him another chance to live.

He was very sick during COVID-19, and he said God turned his life around for the better. “I have so many testimonies of what GOD has done for me and is still doing to this day. So, every day, I live my life devoted to serving and living for him and to giving him the glory,” he shared.

He thanks his support team, which is headed by his wife Donnarie and Apostle Jeffrey Shuttleworth, who he said believed in him and allowed him to grow and be used in different ministries in the house of God. He also expressed gratitude to his manager, Dr Cornelia Jones, whom he says offered guidance and assistance in propelling the path to his musical journey.

Matthews was born in Kingston and is a past student of Meadowbrook High School, where he was a part of the school choir. He later went on to HEART entry levels 1 and 2, then on to Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, where he did levels 1 and 2 in vocal and music theory. Matthews shared that he also earned a distinction in voice.

Matthews has this message for the nation: “Trust in the LORD with all your hearts; worship the Lord in spirit and in truth. Depend upon Him, and He shall direct your path.”
