Dear Editor,
Many of us Believers are challenged or tempted daily with open door vices that are presented to us in different ways. These may be a Netflix app, daily listening to worldly music, being friends with someone who practices casual sex, or someone who smokes and drinks regularly. They are a part of our daily encounter.
These temptations, once accepted, open a door within us to entertain demons that go around looking to see who they can cause to stumble. As scriptures in
1 Peter 5:8- says, “Be sober, be vigilant because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”. Which is why God says in Ephesians 6:10-20, “Finally,my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God,that you may be able stand against the wiles of the devil”.
These are the “wiles” the devil goes around planting and plotting to get doors open so he can plant seeds of tares in our lives. Another scripture points to this, Matthew 12:45, “Then goeth he, and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation”.
It’s so easy to be swayed into making decisions that will make us spiritually dry and weak, paralyzed and unable to walk in the direction of the Word of God. It’s very important that we take the necessary steps to be awake and to put on the full armour of Christ. The world is a spiritual battlefield and the devil and his demons prey for keeps.
As God says, be vigilant and sober! Eat more of His Word than we watch and drink the evil devices of this world. Some forms of entertainment are portals or doors being opened to our spirit to have us wanting more spiritual sickness such as pornography, idol worship, pre-marital sex, and other things which essentially lead us further away from God’s truth.
I pray this article blesses you in a way that gives you strength to pull away from the open door vices of this world – in Jesus name we pray. Amen
