Dear Editor,
How many of us are aware of what to do with the time God gifted us with?
I believe some of us use this time unto men and not unto God. It’s all done in vain repetition of what man wants and how we believe our lives should be. When do we give to Caesar what is due to Caesar, and to give to God what belongs to God? (Mark 12:17).
The big question is,who rules our time? What will we say to God when our time is rightfully up and we are face to face with Him? Will we say, “God, I need more time.” Time to do what? To revel in unrepentant sin? Or would some of us have the audacity to say, “God, I didn’t have time to worship you because I had to work, I had to party or people needed me the most”?
Let us not forget the reason why God created us. He created us to worship Him and for all of us to use the gifts and talents embedded in our souls. 1 Peter 4:10-11 talks about the importance of using our gifts to serve one another and this is why He says to be fruitful and multiply. Genesis 9:7 says “To bring forth abundantly in the earth and multiply in it- for we are made in the image of God.”
One of Gods’ promises is to bless and multiply our gifts which ultimately guarantees rest in Him. Shouldn’t we trust in Him and take Him at His word? We can clearly see that chasing after money is the new phenomenon, but is it fruitful? Does it multiply or dissipate into the wind? Proverbs 13:11 says,“Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.” This proverb suggests that hastily- acquired wealth is prone to loss, while wealth gained diligently through honesty will reap rewards.
Let us take the time to grow in the Lord. With Him we are bound to be fruitful and multiply without being burnt out. His Word says in Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”. In another scripture He says in Psalm 4:8, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
I am,
