Dear Editor,
I was very fortunate to stumble upon the Freedom Come Rain publication in Clarendon just this week and to some degree, it was a breath of fresh air, not simply because it was a Christian publication boasting interests which I gravitated to, but because it may seemingly offer an outlet for some of my own thoughts. An article and a few letters sparked my interest, and I hereby submit my own thoughts.
The article, Health Ministry to Amend HIV/AIDS Form Pushing LGBTQ Agenda, published in Vol 4 No 3 dated August 19, offered quite a stir to my own thoughts. The article reminded me of one scripture, which is now intermingled with my own perceptions. It would seem to me that though we are expecting Christ to separate the sheep from the goat at His coming (Matthew 25:32), the separation could very well be taking place on earth, right at this moment. Many of the developments and decisions that are being made by our government and other institutions with the same, if not similar, agenda are doing so in a blatant rejection of God’s Word, thus separating themselves from Him. It is this freedom of choice which makes them human, but which also is God’s gift, whether they abuse it or not.
Sadly, like many individuals in this postmodern millennial era, who believe that decisions should be void of negative consequences, they will abuse this gift and not expect the curses and problems, which are the payback for such decisions, to follow.
At first thought, I would say leave them to their devices; but, on second thought, I am reminded of how much Christ cares for a backslidden nation that, even in making its own decision, the consequences thereof being riddled with destructive ends, He still uses his people to “cry in the wilderness” (Matthew 3:3, Mark 1:3, Luke 3:4, John 1:23). We are truly, it seems to me, the Elijah that has risen from the dead, according to Revelation 11. So, sadly, whether our leaders hear or forbear, thankfully, we are burdened; we are the voice of one crying in the wilderness.
I am,
Leo Lewis
