Dear Editor,
The Human Resource Management Association of Jamaica (HRMAJ) notes the recent reports of public attempts at disciplining a public sector employee. As many of our members are public sector employees, including our immediate past president, this matter is of significant concern. In fact, HRMAJ is represented by our outgoing vice president on the steering committee for the revision of the Public Sector Regulations, and we are committed to supporting the development of modern approaches to people management.
In the interest of best practices in labour relations, HR management, and natural justice, we urge the speaker of the house to withdraw the letter and allow the required process to lead any concerns of the house of leadership. HRMAJ stands ready to provide counsel, advice, or guidance in this context.
We remind our members to remain faithful to the HRMAJ Code of Ethical and Professional Conduct and that we will support you in taking the principled positions necessary to honour your professional commitment.
