Letters to the Editor: Do not legalise buggery!

Dear Editor,

I hear that discussions are being held in judicial circles in Jamaica about whether or not to abolish the law that forbids buggery and that a decision is scheduled to be taken on October 27, 2023.

“Buggery” is the means by which homosexuals have sexual intercourse with one another. It is otherwise called “Anal Intercourse”.

God did not make sexual relations for persons of the same biological sex;  but He created it for persons of the opposite biological sexes. (See Bible:  Genesis 1:27)  His purpose is the reproduction of children. (See Bible:  Genesis 1:28). Two boys, two men, or one boy and one man, or two girls, or two women, or one girl and one woman, cannot reproduce children.

Marriage is God joining together one man and one woman. (See Bible:  Genesis 2:18,21-24;  compare Matthew 19:3-6).  God does not join together one man and one man, nor one woman and one woman. God says that sexual intercourse must only be done in the marriage relationship between one man and one woman. (See Bible:  Romans 1:26-27).  It is only in the marriage relationship that sexual relations may be done, and it is for the purposes of:  (1)  Reproducing children so that the human population does not die out;  and (2)  Training the children to love and obey God. (See Bible:  Malachi 2:15;  Luke 20:34-36)

Therefore, nobody has the right to change God’s law governing marriage relationships. Courts are obligated to follow what God, the supreme judge of creation, has commanded. They have no authority to overturn God’s laws governing marriage relationships. So then, in the name of Jesus Christ, the Judge, whom God, the Father, has appointed to judge the world on the last day, I caution the judges to be careful what decision you reach on October 27, for if you make any decision that goes against what Jesus Christ has commanded, He will cast you into the lake of fire and brimstone on the day of judgement, where you will be tormented day and night forever and ever. However, if you repent and follow what Jesus Christ has commanded, you will receive favour from God, and if you put your faith in His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, who has died for your sins against God and who has been raised from death to give you the hope of everlasting life in the Kingdom of God, and you decide to confess Jesus as your Risen Lord and Saviour, and you are baptised into union with Jesus Christ, all of your past sins will be forgiven by God. If you are faithful in following Jesus Christ’s teachings in the Holy Scriptures, God will give you everlasting life. (See Bible:  John 3:16-18;  Acts 3:18-19;  Romans 10:8-13;  and Romans 6:1-6,23)

I am,

Mr. Joseph Buckland
