Many of us are looking for rest—the kind of rest that gives peace of mind—but we are looking to the wrong source.
The only One Who promises rest and gives rest is Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God.
Jesus knows what we need more than we do. We have searched and searched and are still searching for something (we do not know for sure what we are searching for) that can bring peace of mind, but Jesus Himself knows just what we need.
There was a man who was lame from birth. Each day, he was taken to the temple gate just to beg. He thought he needed just enough money each day to simply satisfy a need, but Peter and John knew better than the beggar.
But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” Acts 3:6 NLT
That beggar found rest; he found peace of mind when Peter gave him what he needed. He needed to be healed, and he was healed.
Are we willing to consult with Jesus to get the rest and peace of mind that we need?
There is so much that is happening in our world today, and men’s hearts are failing them because what they think they need is not what they really need.
There are many who would take drugs in so many different ways to numb the pain they are feeling. Others will use sex, while others seek other means to satisfy a hunger that only God Himself can satisfy.
Why don’t we try Jesus today? He has never failed and will never fail because He cannot ever fail.
He knows every one of us, even when we turn our backs on Him, yet that does not change the fact that He is pleading with us to take all our burdens and our cares to Him because He cares so much for each of us.
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 NLT
Today is a good day to try Jesus because tomorrow is promised to no one. Just try Him, and you will discover that all you have been searching for all your life is wrapped up in one package, Jesus Christ.
He is very real and will give you the rest for which you have been searching.
