Inaugural conference to focus on Christian music industry
The gospel industry will be the primary focus at the inaugural Mindset Conference, set to take place from May 20–22 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston.
Commenting on the conference, Delroy Escoffery of D’Empire Management said a community of creatives – singers, songwriters, composers, publishers, musicians among others will provide the necessary and precise information on how to navigate industries, more specifically, the music industry.
“It’s a networking hub and the answer to anyone’s dream to be a part of the music industry which consists of individuals and organisations that earn money by writing songs and musical compositions, creating and selling recorded music and sheet music, and presenting concerts, as well as the organisations that aid, train, represent, and supply music creators,” he shared.
Breaking down the four main compartments of the music industry – recorded music, live music, music publishing, and artiste management – he noted that there are several job functions within the industry and that they are ever-evolving. The number of record labels is expanding, and more and more artistes are coming forth, coupled with competing streaming platforms.” he pointed out.
The conference is aimed at providing teamwork, which is essential for any artiste looking to succeed in the music industry. It will also present opportunities for attendees to collaborate and work with others in the field.
Why Mindset Conference?
Stressing the need for a conference such as Mindset, Escoffery said it will play a significant role in determining achievement and success in the gospel music industry. It will also prove to be an effective tool in gaining knowledge and understanding in ALL areas of the music industry.
Among the topics that will be placed under the microscope are getting started in the music industry, growing your musical career, promoting a song before release, and more importantly, how the music industry operates.
“It is also about kingdom building. It is sad to say that there has been a lot of networking, but professionals in Christendom are under-utilised. We want to change that; after all, we are all involved in the same mission—using our talents to glorify the Lord,” he quipped.
There will be workshops led by experienced professionals active in the music industry who will impart their knowledge on topics such as the recording industry and publishing (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, Harry Fox, SoundExchange, PPL, JACAP, and JAMMS). Royalties (performance, mechanical, synchronisation), songwriting, copyright, radio (Media Base, Nielsen BDS), digital music distribution industry, streaming, licencing, artiste management, touring, merchandising, events, production, social media, monetize social media, marketing & public relations, and legal affairs.
The Mindset Conference will host dinner/awards, a keynote speaker, and a gospel concert on Monday, May 20, 2024.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21 and 22, 2024, there will also be workshops, panel discussions, praise and worship, and the presentation of the undiluted word.
